About .IO domains
The .io country-code top-level domain name (ccTLD) is an extension that represents the British Indian Ocean Territory.
Domain names can be up to 63 characters, with a minimum of one character, and can contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and hyphens (except at the beginning or end of the domain name). You cannot register domain names with special characters such as & and #.

1 Renewal restrictions
Your .io domain name will auto renew if you have auto-renew turned on. Otherwise, it will delete 90 days after expiration.
2 Nameserver restrictions
You cannot create custom nameservers for .io domains at this time.
3 Transfer In requirements
Transfers follow the normal process, except once you enter the authorization code, they are immediate. They also require a 1 year extension of the expiration date.
4 IDNs supported
IDNs are supported in the following languages: Arabic, Armenian, Bengali, Bopomofo, Braille, Burmese, Canadian Aboriginal, Cherokee, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Ge'ez, Georgian, Greek & Coptic, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Hebrew, Kannada, Lao, Malayalam, Mongolian, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, and Tibetan
